The Phalap Smokey tea is a traditional form of tea from its origin from native of the Singpho tribe of Assam, North East India, they are believed to be the original tea drinkers of India. Smoke `tea (Phalap) tea is Pan-fried for its distinct nutty flavour, and then sun drying them for a few days. the sun-dried leaves into bamboo tube closed at one end and dried further by the side of fire place for smoked in bamboo cylinders to give it a unique sweet smokiness. It can be preserved for up to ten years, and small portions are sliced off and used to brew a cup of tea.
The Sinphos believe that phalap has several medicinal properties. It is taken after meal and it is believed to aid in digestion and help the human body to keep free from cancer and diabetes (Santoshini, 2016- Dr P. Barua 2020)
HOW TO BREW
Boil water to boil at 90℃. Use one tsp of assam Phalap Smokey tea in a teapot or teacup, pour water and let it brew for 3-5 minutes. strain into a cup and enjoy
